In my install of Audacity v2.0 on Windows 7, the File > Import > Raw Audio... command gives me only "All files (*)" in the drop-down selection of the "File Open" dialogue window.

Re: Export to Wav changes sample amplitude values
@Steve Brown,
You've just learned a golden rule of recording. Never record right up to the limit; always leave a little headroom. I never, ever let the sound go above -1dB.

Re: Help - Audio Conversion
When I follow your instructions, after 2 b) I see that the Project Rate in the lower left of the Audacity window has changed to 22050. How did you open Audacity? I simply clicked on the Audacity icon on my desktop. Did you, by any chance, open an existing sound file into Audacity? If so, that will h...

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements
OK, I'm butting in to discussion about a feature that I will never use, so: reader beware! @Steve, Why not simplify still further and have three plug-ins: Label Sound, Label Silence and Advanced Sound Finder? Sometimes the mere fact of having multiple similar choices can be a source of confusion for...

Re: Backing up and Archiving
One small point from me... With the increasing tendency to provide PCs with monitors that run at HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels), would there be merit in designing these introductory pages to fit within 1080 pixels vertically so that there was no need to scroll down? I guess what I'm really asking ...

I'm UK based, too. Just Google for "digital sound recorder" and you'll get loads of hits. I've heard nothing but good first-hand reports on all the Zoom models (made by Samson) and the Edirol product range. Some folks are happy with the offerings from Olympus and Sony; others have been unhappy with ...

Re: Information re Audacity please
Also if this is possible, what other equipment,i.e. microphone, headsets etc, will I need? Have you considered getting a digital sound recorder device and doing the recordings on that. They usually support both WAV and MP3 file types and can be connected to your PC as a USB storage device after rec...
