Re: Weird Export Problem
Let's confirm the obvious before we go for the esoteric. Are all the Tracks NOT Muted and NOT Solo'd? Are their Gain sliders at zero (or some other level that will give an audible signal)? Are they panned to their proper positions? Can you hear all tracks when you play the project back through your ...

Re: Why are my LPrecords in Audacity?
Many of us on the forum maintain multiple backup drives for work like that. The work has to appear on two different "things." Only two? When I was working in IT Technical Support the minimum that we recommended to commercial customers was three: "grandfather-father-son". I have continued with that ...

Re: Why are my LPrecords in Audacity?
Sorry, my previouis answer didn't address the "copy to CD" request. You will need to burn an audio CD using CD burning software. Common ones are Nero (often pre-installed on PCs), Windows Media Player (comes free with Windows but I'm not sure the XP version has CD burn capability) and Roxio (a moder...

Re: recording stops working
I concur with Steve's assessment. I run on Windows 7 64-bit. With my system idling, doing nothing at all, the RAM usage is already at 1.3GB - and that's a system that I have tuned to be "slimmed down" compared to the default set up. I specifically asked for 4GB of RAM when I had the machine built by...

Re: checking an mp3 for clipping [how to/questions]
Audacity imports EXACTLY what was in the file. If, after import, the file shows clipping then it was there in the original. My understanding of MP3, an understanding that may be inaccurate, is that there is no "decompression". It isn't like a ZIP file, which is compressed when written and saved, and...
Re: Overdub
However, my test resulted in the songs ... being recorded on top of each other. Do you mean that you ended up with, say, 10 stereo tracks stacked one on top of another in the Audacity window? That's normal. Audacity is a multi-track audio editor. To export one of these to, say, a WAV file just clic...

Re: Voice recording - playback muffled and quiet
Tac, I'm also not clear as to precisely what you have done. This is my understanding: - you have an Audacity project which contains, amongst other items, your first part of the speech - you saved this? or you exported this? which? - you then started a new project in which you recorded the second par...

Re: Repair/Recover distant audio, remove buzzing noise
If you can hear the faulty sound when just listening to the tape playback from the tapeplayer (without recording it again into Audacity) then the problem lies in the original source and it is not going to be recoverable. You cannot recover something which isn't there. 3 for 3, sorry!

Re: Not responding on Export
The first suggestion the elves will make is to upgrade to v2.0.0 - this is the latest release and has more bugs fixed than any of the 1.3.xx series. http://audacityteam.org/download/windows I'm not suggesting it will solve your problem. However, if your problem is a known bug from 1.3.xx then it mig...
