Re: How Do You Record Tracks on Spotify With Audacity 2.0.0?

This is not BTW a defence of piracy, nor weasel words - merely a statement of the obvious (should you take the trouble to read the licensing fine print from the record and movie companies) I am reasonably familiar with the laws of copyright, being a UK AV producer who holds Copyright Clearnce Schem...

Re: Muted/Soloed track plays in Audacity but is not in MP3

So far only Steve has responded. Let me try again... Consider this situation from the perspective of a blind user. They have just created a mix within Audacity. They have confirmed it is what they want by listening to it on playback in Audacity. They now instruct Audacity to export the project to, l...

As I understand it, we have to implement WASAPI support to get 24-bit recording on Windows, not merely update PortAudio.
In which version of Audacity is WASAPI incorporated?
It isn't yet: "we have to" - future tense!

Re: Voice Distortions While Recording Audio Course

The sample with Windows features added sounds just as I would have expected it to - lousy! You do not want Windows adding anything to your recording. The second sample sounds just fine to me. But what I would really have liked to hear is the "vanilla" recording: just your voice and what Audacity cap...

Press record and sit quietly for 30 seconds. What does it actually capture? Something in the room ambience that you had never noticed before because your brain was filtering it out? Electronic interference from the device hardware?

"Weasel words" - we will have to agree to disagree on this one! :)

Re: Muted/Soloed track plays in Audacity but is not in MP3

It's not a behaviour that I like, but that is how it is designed to work. http://manual.audacityteam.org/manual/help/manual/man/audio_tracks.html#mute I'm familiar with hardware mixers and I can see the point of being able to "solo" more than one track at a time, but to me it's bananas for solo to ...

Re: How Do You Record Tracks on Spotify With Audacity 2.0.0?

Note waxcylinder's careful wording. We don't advise on how to record Spotify, (or iPlayer, or any other copyright material). Many people want to record sounds that are playing on their computer for perfectly legal reasons and we can offer help in how to do that. I'm sorry, Steve, but waxcylinder di...

Re: How Do You Record Tracks on Spotify With Audacity 2.0.0?

Should we be offering advice to people that helps them commit what may be a illegal act? It is my understanding that a user is allowed to stream items off Spotify but not copy or "rip" items off it.
