Thanks Gale
Wasn't intending to be a nuisance and I definitely don't want to be suggesting more work!
Audacity's brilliant; I just don't know it well enough.

Re: Using the mouse for Editing
Hi Steve I read that but it's based on your being inside Audacity during recording time but that's not my situation. I set up a digital recorder (an Olympus LS10) and let it run through an entire session; some 2 hours or more. I then offload the recording to my PC where I get to work on it with Auda...

Re: Using the mouse for Editing
Thanks again Steve I scroll through till I'm where I want to be then I use the mouse to mark the position with a thin vertical black line then I drag that line back to he beginning to highlight the section I want to export. I meant adding markers during the time the recording is being made like a fi...

Re: Using the mouse for Editing
Thanks Steve That's really helpful. One last question. Say I've advanced to a point in the file perhaps 5 minutes into it and I want to select from there back to the beginning as a selection for export. At the moment I'm scrolling back and takes forever; is there a quicker way? And, finally (sorry :...

Using the mouse for Editing
Hi I'm running Audacity 2.0.2 on a Windows 10 Pro and I'm editing a large (more than 2 hours) audio file. Ideally I'd like to use my mouse (wheel) to scroll forward and back through the file and use the left button to start and stop playback and the right button to add begin and end marks to allow e...

Re: Hum Removal
Oh, OK, I hadn't picked up on that. I'll give it a go on both the laptops running on batteries. Thanks for pointing it out again. Sorry I didn't pick it up first time you mentioned it.

I was hoping that someone could analyse the hum recording and tell how it was being generated,

Re: Hum Removal
My Corsair headset is a USB connected device and as I said in my post, I get exactly the same outcome when using the Sennheiser headset which connects via the microphone/headphone sockets (the pink and green connectors) so I don't think it's relevant, sorry.

Hum Removal
I am using either a Sennheiser headset that plugs in using the pink and green plugs to the soundcard or a Raptor HD40 headset which connects via a USB 2.0 port. In either case I get a low frequency hum when I record to Audacity and I get this on a Lenovo X300 laptop running Windows 7 and Audacity 2....

Re: Sync Drift from different Zoom Recorders
The clapper board is fine in instances where a) there is a clapper board operator separate from the cameraman b) there is control over the recording session such that no one cares if and when the clapper board is used and c) in the event of one person operation (opo) the recorder is mounted on a tri...
