Hi there, I found this thread because I'm facing the exact same problem. My version of Audacity (lates version 1.3.14-beta) takes 54 seconds (!) to start up, which renders it almost unusable for me. Not only that, the program also takes 15 seconds to quit. I'm using MacOS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro 2.4...
