Re: clipping-top of one channel only
Thanks. I did push the ground wire into the third prong of the outlet, but it certainly makes more sense to provide a ground position on the device. One other question regarding format. I have been using .aiff which is what CD Doctor offered, but I am wondering if that is the best format to be using...

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
That' a relief. I was not looking forward to redoing all those tape conversions.

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
Well I can only say I wish I had made the connection with this forum earlier, but as they say, live and learn. I have uploaded a sample of one of my tape conversions, and would appreciate your letting me know if I need to also redigitize all the tapes as well. That would be painful, but if they are ...

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
I have uploaded part of one track of a stereo record to Sendspace. I have not used sendspace before, nor am I registered as a user, so please let me know if you need more information to access these files. One is labeled "CD Doc-Dueling-Trk-1.aiff" and the other "Audacity-Dueling-Trk-1.aiff". These ...

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
The record whose attachments I sent before is actually a monaural record that was enhanced for stereo, which probably means they just duplicated the monaural channel. Hence the two channels are identical. The attachments to this post are from a more recent record which I hope is stereo. It's singing...

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
I have attached the .aiff files from Audacity and CD Doctor for comparison.

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
The i-Mic seems to work fine with CD Doctor. It has two input levels, one that works directly off of a turntable, and one that works with my old reel-to-reel tape deck. I can't vouch for the quality of the signal the i-Mic/CD Doctor conversion is producing, but right now I am more concerned about wh...

clipping-top of one channel only
I have been using CD Doctor from an old version of Toast (5.1) to digitize my old records via the i-Mic pre-amp. This version of CD Doctor seems to work OK, but the other Toast features all crash so I recently started using Audacity to combine sides 1 and 2 of the records and to remove noise. Howeve...
