Re: SAVE PROJECT question
Thanks waxcylynder, I will investigate further on what I have here. Part of my question is from the huge directory size of a saved project, and looking at the contents, I was somewhat on the impression that different 'takes' were indeed saved. Another reason is that I have had Audacity say "Audacity...

Re: Gain lever -question
Thanks for the good explanations, dear friends.
I'll do a little experimenting with what you all said as guidelines.
Report back any thing if needed.

Re: Audacity karaoke question
Hi Steve, And thank you so much for your very thoughtful explanation. I believe that I am quite clear on what I have been asking about, and well oriented into possibilities on how to overcome where I've been stumbling. I am going over the explanation over and over, and googling things out. Likely I ...

Re: HELP Buzzing while recording...NOT AUDACITY's fault thou
Hi T9, Grounding could be a problem, but if no changes in connection recently, likely not. If using laptop, unplug power supply and running on battery see if noise goes away. One thing that is difficult to find, and have not seen elsewhere discussed is this: Some software such as soft-synth can do e...

Re: Audacity karaoke question
Hi Steve, It's not time yet for me to go into a more advanced card, but would like to ask, in a generalized way, how could one assign a different input to EACH track since there is only ONE place (in the header pane) where one can select "what you hear", or "mic", or Line-in, wave, s/pdif-in? It see...

I saw this in another message:
-------------------------------------------------
"Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O"
Switch off "software playthrough"
-------------------------------------------------
What does this actually do?''
Thanks!

Gain lever -question
At each track, there is a pane with a lever marked (-) and (+) and when one clicks it it reads Gain, and adjusts what looks like the volume of the track, but I don't see the waveform increase in amplitude. So what does this control actually do, as compared to an amplify effect, if applicable? Thanks!

Re: wave out mix
Hi Morbido, What you describe is most likely because at the operating system (Windows) mixer you need to explicitly SELECT as Recording device "What you hear", or "Stereo Mix", or something like that. In Audacity, what is not grayed out, is pretty much what that master is currently selected to. Reme...

Re: buzz when recording bass in audacity
I have a suggestion, based on my own experience, and on some of what is described. Perhaps it might apply. When I monitor with my earphones, I do HEAR SOUNDS that ARE NOT discernible when using speakers. The reason may be either at the high frequency, or at the low frequency, depends on the contents...
