Re: Recorded tracks not syncing up
The problem with tracks not matching up, I wouldn't call "latency" but it may relate, though. The problem I experience is not with one track recording at the same time (time-shifted) but rather of the time total being larger one from the other, whereas they ought to have had the same TOTAL time dura...

Re: Simultaneous, Multi-Track Recording
A CORRECTION TO MY ABOVE: Where it says "In addition, in order for SIMULTANEOUS recording of various tracks (whatever number it is built to handle) it has to be Multi-Track." It should rather say "In addition, in oreder for SIMULTANEOUS recording of various tracks (whatever number it is built to han...

Re: Batch convert WAV to MP3?
I think batch file conversions as you want can be handle at the operating system level, meaning it's not meant for Audacity to do batch conversions, but someone may know different. I doubt it though. So you may want to google the question for doing this in windows. In the Linux operating system, thi...

Re: Simultaneous, Multi-Track Recording
Thaks so much for the response! When you say USBFirewire interface, your talking about a USB "physical wire" between the mixer and the PC, correct? Then Audacity can separate the tracks? That sounds simple enough. Does it require a special soundcard installed on the PC itself. I truly appreciate yo...

Re: SAVE PROJECT question
Audacity uses "uncompressed" audio data, so 1 minute of silence uses just as many bytes of data as 1 minute of noise. The only difference is that the data for the silence will mostly be zeros. For uncompressed audio, each sample value is recorded. Thanks for your good reply. It's good to have corre...

Re: Recorded tracks not syncing up
HI fr, I had the same problem some time ago and gave up. But recently I re-visited, got some good advice here, and went back and tried again, and I don't find the problem, nor the cause. I am using version 1.2.6, though, and I frankly don't recall if I have changed versions since the problem. So may...

Re: SAVE PROJECT question
Great explanation, thanks Steve.
Isn't the file size of audio files also dependant on 'contents' in addition to time duration, though? Or is audacity only time-duration based, as to file size, even if i had long silences, for instance?

Re: wave out mix
Well, try Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices. There find options for Audio - SOUND recording and select the device that you want the mixer to send to Audacity as a the deivice to be recorded. In Audacity, you may need to also make sure that it is changed to be the same. In Audacity, about 4 lin...

Re: audacity speeds up when i record!
Nlacaria,
Perhaps you have a karaoke effect enabled in the laptop, either for recording or play-back?
Good luck.

Re: Simultaneous, Multi-Track Recording
Hi Rick, I had a similar question here, and was helped very well. It relates as follows: If you are inputting a mix already into the pc, there's no way to un-scramble it. You'd need a special USB or firewire interface/mixer which sends (to the pc) each thing you connect to it separate (on its own ch...
