Thanks foryour help but it was to no avail, I'm afraid. I cannot elicit a response from 'bass boost' when I go to 'effect' on the tool bar for Audacity and there does not appear to be anything in the Audacity web-site. I am still looking, though!!

Hello Thanks for the reply--it is listed under 'MENU BAR' in the HELP section on the Audacity Home Page.

I am using Widows 200 [XP] and I would like to add 'bass boost' to my recorded material. However, the 'effects' area is always 'greyed out'! On consulting HELP I am told that it only works 'when the Audio is on'--what is meant by this? The Audio must always be 'on', surely!
