Re: "Best practice" for setting recording levels?
Be careful you don't end up with a situation where you have "empty amplification". If you max your Audacity input and adjust the levels by using the output from your mixer or other upstream player, you run the risk of amplifying (in Audacity) a very low input signal. I'll let others chime in, but I ...

Re: Exporting multiple files
If you have a single track with multiple...um....bits you want to save as separate files (for example, I record the narration for web-based training as one long file, even though the customer needs a file for each "slide" of text). I either manually put in a label where the text breaks, or insert a ...

Re: Annoying behavior, which must have a simple fix.
Edgar,
Thanks for the history and the look into the code. So much for the "simple fix". I would like to try your proposed change, if it's not too difficult. I've been known to get into the registry, etc. But not the innards of Audacity. If you can walk me through it...

Re: Annoying behavior, which must have a simple fix.
Exactly! The script is a Word doc I am narrating. I would dearly like to have the Word doc on full screen, with just the Transport bar floating on tiop. Instead I need to have both Audacity and my doc partially minimized so I can click back and forth. Not the end of the world, just annoying...and a ...

Re: Annoying behavior, which must have a simple fix.
Thanks Steve...I understand about the undocking, etc. The problem I'm having is with the undocked bar staing on top (or not). I realize I can tuck it in a corner, etc. but if I want to have a full screen to view my script, I'd like to have the toolbar on top. The previous release (1.2.x) had an opti...

Re: Breaths in Voice Recording
Cassandra, You need to inform your voice talent about it. If they are not using a pop screen, they must. If they need to breathe, they should stop talking, brethe in slowly and possibly way from the mic. You (or they) can easily edit out the breath breath breaks. If you want a more natural "intervie...

Annoying behavior, which must have a simple fix.
Unlike 1.2.x, when I undock the control bar (play, record, stop, etc) it does not remain "on top", that is to say, other windows with the focus cover the bar. s a result I have to layer my windows (Auacity, script, etc) offset to allow access to the bar. Of course, when I do pause, the Audacity wind...

Re: Need tips on audio editing spoken podcast tracks
Jesus... After listening to you sample, I notice several things. You need a pop screen. Your plosives are terribly distracting. It also appears that your levels are very high. It sounds like you have your mic jacked to the bleeding edge, picking up every movement, hum and breath in the room. Bring i...
