Really? Why was that? Did you have problems with 1.3.x? I couldn't cut and paste between files so I opted for the secure version over the beta. Didn't make any difference though. I have used Nero, Wavepad and a few other things on a PC so I wonder whether Audacity is unusual if not unique in that a ...

Thanks for the reply. What I am actually doing is cut/paste between files not between tracks. I have found a similar thread on the 1.3.x forum. I started with 1.3.x and then moved to 1.2.

Well, :cry: googling has shown that sampling is a problem with Audacity. It is possible to cut and paste into a new track using 'Quick Mix', but I can find no way of cutting/pasting with different sample rates into an existing track. I might sort this out myself in the end. It is because the files have different sample rates. When I alter the sample rates using the drop-down menu at the side of the track the tempo changes. This is most extraordinary. It must be possible to change the sample rate without this effect.

Change of tempo with cut and paste
Audacity 1.2.6a on MacBook Pro Intel OS 10.5.5. Quite simple. Every time I cut and paste between files there is a very marked change in tempo, could be faster or slower. I can find nothing in the documentation to explain this. Help, please.
