Thanks everyone for the help, and especially steve, for taking the time to give their opinions. @steve: I use VLC, indeed. How can I record Internet stream through it? Is there a guide on that? Do you mean that they can't be enabled at the same time or just that they can't both be the default...

Sound Settings-->Hardware-->High Definition Audio Controller

Internal Audio was the one referring to my on-board sound card, but I can't have both enabled at the same time.

I had my speakers and phones connected through the on-board sound card, and had no issues with recording.

I opened a terminal and gave "alsamixer" so as to see what's going on, after I had temporarily disabled Pulse.
I pressed F6 to check out the NVidia HDMI sound card.
This is what I got:

So, I guess it can't be done.

I have Pulse enabled by default.
I tried with every option I had in the Recording Device Preferences but nothing worked.
