I FIGURED IT OUT, too much sounds in one project. you gotta keep it simple and then export it as wav, then start a new project and import that wav and add to it, etc.

im having the same problem, please help us somebody, audacity pretty much freezes up. it was working just fine all day but now my awesome song can no longer be edited.
