You were right about another software hogging up the devices. Closing the internet browser I'm using freed it up. Works a treat!

Thanks for the reply. I'm running Audacity 1.3.5-beta (Unicode), and I have 3 availible playback devices. Hi, I'm using Linux 3.5.10-1.fc8 Fedora, and I cannot hear my recorded playback. I have checked on "Software Playthrough: Play new track while recording it" in the Audio I/O preferences.
