It would have been good for me as a learner of audacity.
It may be helpful to note that resolving clipping can't be done as it is "already recorded".
I was looking for a tool to correct problems and thus on the wrong track.

Thanks to each for informative and helpful replies.
I am recording using an Olympus WS700 recorder and I will be working on the settings there.
It sounds as audacity just help me expose the problems and is not the solution to this volume.

Newbie help with waveform
Totally new to Audacity and have been using tutorials and this forum. I have not found a tutorial that explains the colors on the waveform. I have a file with a lot of red on the waveform and think this means clipping. When listening to the recording, there is a loud sound like something hitting the...
