Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
Sorry! I didn't expect to be back so soon. But I noticed that the process you outlined (prior to your Roxio revelation) employed Audacity 1.3. The web site recommends that for Windows 7 or Vista; I'm still using XP. Does that mean I should stick with 1.2? And what adjustments should I then make to t...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
EXPLETIVE DELETED Of course I have the Roxio that came with my PC. That must be the problem. It won't format any music files for finalization. I guess I'm up against it. If you don't hear from me again, it's because that finally worked. If you do, much to your regret and mine, something else might ...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
Second sound file: Piano2, after my Audacity finished with it. (couldn't send it; error message :The attachment’s file size is too large, the maximum upload size is 2 MB. Please note this is set in php.ini and cannot be overridden. The program I'm using that refuses to produce finalizable disks is R...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
The original file is 540 meg but the extract I selected is only 4 seconds or so long. In addition, I ran your Piano2.wav through my system and got the same result, an error message that said: This is ot a valid supported music file. The flollowing audio file formats are supported: mps, wma, wav, cd/...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
Audacity comes out of the box at 44100, 32-bit floating specification. Music CD standard is 16-bit. You can open up a song and re-export it using WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM. Look to the lower left of the Audacity screen so find out the sample rate. Either 44100, 48000 should work. If yours s...

Re: finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
Correct: I emailed it to a friend and he could not play it on his PC. I can play it on mine. And it is definitely a .WAV file. And yes, Windows shows my file extensions. Warren So the recorded audio can be played on my computer but nowhere else. Even if you email a song to your mom, she can't play i...

finalizing WAV file for use on car or home cd player
Why am I unable, in either the 1.2 Audacity or the Beta, to finalize in Roxio on Windows XP the .WAV files I export to my PC? I am always told that the file us unsuitable, that only (and a range of suffixes follow, INCLUDING WAV) can be finalized. So the recorded audio can be played on my computer b...
