Does applying tempo effect nullify envelope effect?

Win 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 Audacity 2.0.4 installed by .exe Been puttering around with Audacity as a hobby, creating ringtones/soundbites from old pop tunes - having fun and learning quite a bit. But a couple of times, it has seemed like if the tempo effect was applied to a track in which the...

Re: equalize levels on skype recording

There used to be a free product from The Conversation Network called Levelator. It was designed for use on podcasts where multiple people were being recorded using multiple microphones, and it did a very good job leveling out the audio from different speakers. Although it is no longer being supporte...

When to go from 1.3.13 to 1.3.14?

Forgive an ignorant question...

Earlier this year, on the advice of several other posters in this forum, I migrated from Audacity 1.2.x to 1.3.13 beta. Should I now migrate to 1.3.14, or wait until it becomes 2.0?

Thanks in advance...

Setting gain while using a UCA-202?

I recently got a UCA202 because running a cable from my amp lineout jack directly into my Windows XP laptop mic input jack produced a very 'dirty' sound. Not only clipping, but the closest I can describe it, it sounded like listening to something being played on a cheap loudspeaker with a rip in its...

Re: Exported WAV file won't burn

The same trouble happened again during last night's recording session. Afterwards, a friend noticed the WAV file exported from Audacity showed a Length attribute of zero in the Properties display. Today I found the cause of the problem. It's documented in the "How To Burn" tutorial (http://wiki.auda...

Exported WAV file won't burn

I've been doing speech recording for about 8 months. No experience before that, so I'm still very much new. My no-frills setup is an SM58 clone mic XLR'd into a Kustom KMP4080 amp, and out to a couple of Kustom speakers for room audio. To record, a mono cable goes from the 1/4" output jack on the ba...

Re: Normalising Audio levels

FYI - For what it's worth, I'm going to repeat some advice I received on this forum a few weeks ago (I do speech recording, and have struggled with sound levels for months). There's a free software product called the Levelator (http://www.conversationsnetwork.org/levelator) that has been a miracle w...

Re: Speech recording - What Compressor parameters should I u

There are no easy answers, because every recording is different. If you are doing the same kinds of recordings over-and-over, once you have an idea of what works with your set-up and your recordings, you can use that as your default compression set-up and make small changes when necessary. Threshol...
