Bizarre activity of the VU meter VS playback volume

v 2.3.0 New installation. The pics show two screen shots of the Audacity screen during playback.Note the the meter shows higher/overload volume when the volume output slide bar is set mid way but if I raise the slide bar level, the meter level drops to a normal/not overloaded image. If this is not c...

How does Audacity control the mixer volume on the computer?

I am creating an automatic-gain-control using VBA and Excel. (My major project is on Excel). It looks as if when I change the speaker level in Audacity, it changes the system volume level. I would like to know the code that is being used. I hear that Audacity is written in C and I do have a vague re...

Re: How do I activate the AGC?

Interesting program but my need is to have hourly broadcasts balanced because they come in at varying volumes relative to each other. Since the system is left unattended for hours at a time, I come back to see that one hour is totally overloaded while others are extremely low. It is as if these web ...

Re: How do I activate the AGC?

Yes, here in this web site. When starting a new message, I do not see the borders of the text boxes until I randomly move the mouse around that they eventually show. Even the editing options look as if they are all disabled even though they work, . With that said, any response to my question about t...

How do I activate the AGC?

Automatic gain control. I want to regulate lows and highs to be closer to a median volume.

Is there a reason why these text boxes are almost invisible until I mouse over them?
How bizarre is that?

Re: Taking too long to open projects, jamming a lot

I have a history of slow loading/navigating audacity especially with very large files. One thing I found is that using a network drive can be a problem. I changed my default saving location back to the C drive. Be sure that you have a lot of disposable space on the drive. Also, go into View/History ...

Re: Getting into serious editing audio as I have with video

A noble request it is but I might propose a much simpler approach and a smaller step. I suggest to add an option in the pull down menu for "After Recording Completes" which says "Restart Timer" and then ask how many times to repeat. All the code needs do is activate the OK button for the given numbe...

Re: Getting into serious editing audio as I have with video

I stand corrected, ^m is a marker and not a memo. Yes, I understand the lockout that is in place in timer mode. There are a lot of things one cannot do when using the timer. I don't pretend to understand why but am used to it as Microsoft seems to enjoy using it. Unless it can be developed to start ...

Re: I would like to modify the Timer feature.

Is there a "Getting Started" file?
I found an INSTALL file but di doesn't seem to be too happy.
I see an Audacity.sln file. Is Audacity a Visual BASIC file or is this just a part of the overall package?

Some suggestions to get started would be nice.
