Recording but how do I turn off the speakers?
I am trying to help someone install Audacity and just down-loaded the latest and greatest. We can record from a web site but it seems to have to have the speakers enabled. Turn down the speaker volume but that also turns down the recording level. Is there a fix for this? The system s an all-in one w...

Bizarre delays and slow downs.in recording and playback.
What could be clogging my system? This is a computer that is effectively dedicated to this project and as I continue use this project, it is getting slower and slower. I wonder if a complete reformat of the disk drive is in order but hope it will not come to that. On Saturdays, I record 15 hours of ...

Re: Headphone/Speaker conflict
It is not a microphone issue but there may be situations where I want that. When I switch off the Blue Tooth speaker, the system automatically switches back and Audacity is recording. I figured that it is a windows problem but maybe there is a work around here in Audacity since it has settings to se...

Headphone/Speaker conflict
All was good until I connected a blue tooth speaker. When it is switched on, my sound board changes from speaker to headphone and my Audacity recording audio drops out completely.
Are there settings in Audacity to fix this?
I want to record and use my blue tooth speakers at the same time.

Re: Memory problem?
I want both the 24 hour recording and the 1 hour is a test. My point is that Audacity seems to believe that one hour of audio from the 24 has the same amount of saving space. This applies also to when I totally close everything then open the 1 hour file. Saving the file again takes 20 minutes yet a ...

Memory problem?
I create a new file that is only one hour long, it takes a few minutes to save. I record 24 hours of audio in one track. It can take as much as 20 minutes to save it. I accept this. If I edit the 24 hour track down to 1 hour and save it under a new name, it still takes up to 20 minutes to save. If I...

Re: Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
I just discovered that Windows has an equilization option.

It was just enabled and now I will have to see what it does...
There are also apps for phones and portable devices.

Re: Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
"This is where we find exactly what you're doing. You're really subscribing to on-line music sources and saving them on your local machine. It's unattended and the volume variations just kill you. Did I hit it?" For the most part, yes but it is not by subscription, per se. I have the URLs included i...

Re: Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
Thanks for the insight. I looked at the link and realized that it won't help in my situation.
I wonder if I can put something to monitor the volume before the signal gets to Audacity.

Does Audacity have an automatic volume control?
I build a Jukebox that plays hourly broadcasts on schedule all weekend. Some web sites don't seem to understand what the Dolby-Tone was invented for as some broadcasts come in at a low volume while others come in very loud. It would be really nice if I could enable an AGC in Audacity to even out the...
