Well i got another cord to connect the turntable to my mac through the USB port and still after a few minutes of recording it distorts. So far I know its not audacity, its not the cord,its not the record. anyone else got an idea?

Well Bill it appears that the problem is not audacity. I used "Line in" and found after a few minutes of listening the LP still became distorted. To answer your question i have the turntable going directly into my mac with a USB. If i hook my turntable up to my receiver the records sound fine. thx f...
