Re: Change sampling rate and export multiple Issue
My 24bit 96Khz sampling FLAC file goes on my home theater PC to play on my home stereo. The MP3 version I also make goes on my phone to play on the car stereo, so it really doesn't matter if it's lower quality (can't tell the difference on a car stereo anyway). I'm making a 256 bit MP3. This is bein...

Change sampling rate and export multiple Issue
I digitize my albums in 24bit/96Khz using Audacity. I make two files; one 24/96 FLAC, and an MP3. When using "Export Multiple", the FLAC files are created perfectly. Then when exporting the same as MP3, I get a pop box saying "Invalid Sample Rate" and there is a drop down box to choose from 32, 44.1...

Re: Amplify whole album or individual tracks?
Bill, thanks for the response. Why do you recommend amplifying before doing the fades? I was under the impression that amplify should be the last step. And since I'll be playing back lots of special mixes (playlists) instead of the whole album, I think I should amplify each song separately to keep v...

Amplify whole album or individual tracks?
I'm digitizing my albums. I capture the entire album, remove clicks and pops, then separate the tracks (using fade-in and fade-outs), and then amplify before exporting. My question is should I just highlight the whole album and amplify or should I highlight each song individually and amplify? When v...

Re: Input Level Meter Grayed Out - Wasn't Before!
Hi Gale, I just tried the 'Rescan Audio Devices', but that didn't help. I checked the M-Audio website and the driver has not changed since November 2009. Since I bought the card about 4 months ago, I had the same driver loaded before my hard drive crash as I do today (I always download drivers direc...

Re: Input Level Meter Grayed Out - Wasn't Before!
I just went back and did a quick test. The recording level is fully functional for me under 1.3.12.
Then I loaded 1.3.14 alpha. The recording level is grayed out, just like 1.3.13.
If there's anything else I can test, please let me know.

Re: Input Level Meter Grayed Out - Wasn't Before!
Steve, thanks for providing 1.3.12. I just installed it and I have my recording level control back!
So looks like this may be a bug in 1.3.13. Everything is working perfect now. I think I'll stick to 1.3.12 until this is fixed in a later version.
Thanks again!

Input Level Meter Grayed Out - Wasn't Before!
My harddrive crashed and I had to reinstall Windows 7 and Audacity 1.3.13 on a whole new drive. I'm using a very basic M-Audio 24/96 sound card and reinstalled the driver (same driver as the previous one on my old hard drive). I'm using the 1/2 analog input on the M-Audio and the optical out to my r...

Re: Some clipping after normalize
Thanks for the great answers. I didn't know normalize analyzed each channel individually. I thought amplify was if you wanted to boost over 0db. Like many others here, I'm making two files of each track: Flac and MP3 (256). The FLAC will stay on my home theater PC and the MP3 will go on my phone and...
