Re: Record volume issue
I don't think anywhere in there you said what you're recording. What are you recording? I've tested with various sources: input streamed from an online music service, audio from Youtube or local input via a microphone. Basically, anything running through the sound card is recorded at a very low lev...

Record volume issue
Having difficulty recording with Audacity ver 2.2.2 (OS is Win 10). The issue is the record volume level through the sound card - it is close to flatline even with the recording level setting cranked full up (there a very small waveform and some faint audible content on playback). I can get the soun...

Re: Another "Error opening sound device" question
OK, after performing ALL suggested fixes, from the Audacity site and myriad other web sources, I still got the "Error opening sound device." In a last ditch effort, and even though I'm using line, rather than microphone input, I tried enabling the Microphone from the Settings/security panel. This wa...

Another "Error opening sound device" question
The recent Win 10 updated seems to have affected Audacity with the "Error opening sound device" popup at every start Prior to the Win 10 update I was running Audacity 2.2.1 but as part of the attempt to fix this problem, have installed Audacity version 2.2.2. My soundcard is a SB ZxR which is operat...

Re: Unintentional bass boost from analogue source
Looks like simply changing the Recording Device to Aux (from What U Hear) was the answer. Big thanks, particularly to Gale, for the help. It certainly looks like using What U Hear applies EQ similar to the RIAA phono EQ, which is interesting. Now that things are back on track, I've got my work cut o...

Re: Unintentional bass boost from analogue source
That means in Audacity's Device Toolbar . You don't want to be recording from What U Hear. That may very likely have sound effects applied to it. In the Input device or Recording Device box in Device Toolbar, choose the physical input that you are recording from. You have not given your Audacity ve...

Re: Unintentional bass boost from analogue source
Thanks to all for the replies. To answer the questions about the recording set up, I'm using a Revox B790 turntable with a Grado cartridge (don't recall the model) connected to an HK Citation 11 pre-amp connected via RCA cables/connectors to inputs on the SB card (specifically, the daughter board of...

Unintentional bass boost from analogue source
I'm not sure if this is an Audacity issue or one due to my sound card and need some help from those more knowledgeable then I. I recently installed a SB ZxR sound card that appears to be functioning normally. I've used Audacity to record from the web, DVDs and other digital sources with no problems....

Re: After all of this - no sound output
OK tried a disciplined approach to troubleshooting this problem as follows: Step 1: Verify sound output - started WMP, played both a WAV and MP3 file - normal audio output. Double check - went to YouTube -played Clapton/Knoplfer version of "Money for Nothing" both video and audio fine. Step 2: Close...

Re: After all of this - no sound output
OK, spent some more time trying to figure out the problem. No luck. Could not find anything useful on this particular problem, so I'm not sure if it's a Vista issue, a Realtek problem or something peculiar to Aspire laptops. It does not appear to be an Audacity issue - at least, it hasn't cropped up...
