Re: Noise reduction for hiss - is there a solution?

I'm not quite up there when it comes to recording myself. I just know that setup worked for me. You can get a Presonus PreAmp on Ebay pretty cheap. It has both 1/8' and 3 prong XLR jacks for input and output. umm...just don't try to outbid me for the one I'm trying to get now... ;)

Re: Noise reduction for hiss - is there a solution?

When recording live lectures, I always got the best results using a Presonus Tube Pre-amp, even with the cheap cheap microphones I was given. I'm talking no noise floor to speak of. Might want to try something like that.

Re: Please help me clean this piece of audio

What exactly do you want cleaned from this file? It sounds ok to me, except for some digital distortion during the speaking. Is this what you are referring to?

Re: Spoken Word: Tweaking for Maximum Quality

Thanks for the link. 1.3.4 should do me just fine. We'll see how it holds up.

Re: Subtract a Feature..or Two

The ability to open up questionable files has saved me a few times. Once, i had accidently deleted some files, and only portions of the audio were recoverable. I was able to rescue these files with Audacity, even though no other program would open them.

Re: Spoken Word: Tweaking for Maximum Quality

Right...how do you get 1.3.4??? I don't see it anywhere on the site....never mind I got it. Yes, the preview does work in this version. Do you know what the major differences are between 1.3.4 and 1.3.5? What will I be missing, in other words?

Re: Bug report

Is this going to be fixed? Sometimes I need to have more than one audio file open for comparison or copy/paste applications. Also, another related bug: When I open a second audio file, the file won't pop up; I have to wait until it loads completely, then right click the start menu button for it, the...

Re: Spoken Word: Tweaking for Maximum Quality

You obviously want the "Professional Audio Filter." Whatever you shot comes out perfect after application of the filter. This is an old video joke and any time the programmers get a little uppity, we ask for that filter. The problem is you appear to be head and shoulders more advanced than all but ...

Spoken Word: Tweaking for Maximum Quality

Hello Folks, I've been using Audacity for awhile, and I have a few questions for the guri. I am editing lectures that were given 20 some odd years ago. Some were recorded professionally, some with a shoebox recorder; they all are now on cassette, which of course gets played into my computer, etc... ...
