Re: Trying to make a good 'narrator' voice sound
Yah to be honest, the music in the backgroud sounds heavily compressed, and -like is mentioned above- gets tiring after awhile. Really, it is what keeps the audio from having that crisp, professional sound. What a pity, too, because it is quite a stunning soundtrack, and matches the Russian quite we...

Re: NEWBIE - How to clean a mp3 recording...
Yah, that recording is pretty much toast. It's not a matter of there being information that you want sorted out, like noise. Rather, the information just ain't there. Better luck next time.

Re: big lo-fi audio files for wide audience: what codec?
Some of the other guys with more eperience might be able to be more comprehensive, but I would recommend first converting the audio to mono, which will cut the file size in half. You can use variable bit-rate, but for speech I usually use constant 64kpbs. You can play around and see if you find the ...

*Reverse Echo* in LP Recordings
Has anybody else noticed in any LP recordings a "reverse echo" occurring, where you can just barely hear the audio that will be playing in a few seconds? My guess is that this is bleed from reel to reel windings that they may have used as a master before cutting the record. Anybody else picked up on...

Re: What is causing the crackling on this vinyl??
That is good to know. Unfortunately, it's hard to find necessarily clean pressings when you are finding your LP's at an antique store. Is there a way to tell visually if the pressing was defective? Also, has anybody else noticed in any recordings a "reverse echo" occurring, where you can just barely...

Yah, I guess depending on what you are recording from, you could have hit a knob or button or something. Need more info though.

Re: Recording vinyls
I'm sure this method works, except, wouldn't it be just as easy to record the LP into the computer using a high quality line-in port? I mean, every time you go through a different medium, you are going to have some loss of quality, if not just from the multiple connections. I'd say it would be easie...

Re: MP3 Quality
For Windows you should be using this version of Lame with Audacity 1.3.6 http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/libmp3lame-win-3.98.2.zip (download, unzip, and set Audacity Preferences to use it). Indeed, I had the same problem, and upgrading to the very latest version of Lame solved the problem.Good luck with ...

RCA LAB-1200 Turntable
Hello All, Just wondering if anybody else out there has used the RCA LAB-1200 Turntable. It was basically Radio Shack's war-horse turntable, and I believe even the same as their Optimus model. Anyway, what is y'all's experience with this turntable? I have been recording LP's for some time, and I thi...
