Re: Recording my podcast in Stereo

See those two sliders on the left? I would probably put those back to the middle. You can confuse the issue with those because they have actions that aren't obvious. When you play the work, do you get independent flashing L and R lights on the Audacity sound meter? It's just when one person speaks, ...

Re: Expander for Audacity?

works as an expander if you put in a negative-value for the compression-ratio.
Writing that down.

Chris will sometimes damage the very end of a show (the look-ahead gets confused), so put some fake sound at the end to give Chris something to chew on. You can cut it off later.

Re: recording in stereo

I'm very new at dealing with this particular interface. Did the software have any instructions? It's unusual for the maker to provide fancy tools and effects and not tell you how to use them. On the web page? "Download the special software to mix, yadda, yadda, yadda." There is one possib...

Re: Simple Loop Question

Drag-select your chunk.

Shift-Play.

Most of the tools and explanations have to do with making absolutely perfect loops for sale to the public. You don't need that.

Re: Very small Waveform

Nice voice but it's massively too low in volume. On the front of the Solo. The 48v light should be on. #1 volume control should be all the way up. #2 volume should be all the way down. Temporarily turn down the Monitor knob. Rode Podcaster? You didn't say which one. The status light on the Podcaster...

What's that? Web reference?

This is a good time to be clear that this is a forum and the elves are sprayed out over 9 time zones, so we do have some dead times. It's not a Help Desk.

Re: Amplify, but only to a specific limit?

Chris may win here. I use it to even out podcasts so I can hear them when I'm out hiking. It's a look-ahead compressor and will tailor, up or down, the corrections on the fly. One show is unlistenable without this processing. Two guys, one mumbles in his beer and the other has a thermonuclear laugh....

Re: Amplify, but only to a specific limit?

I have a speech I'm attempting to clean up "Help me Clean Up." There's the warning sign. Did the applause overload? View > Show Clipping. Did the screen fill up with little red bars during the applause? If so, those areas will always sound crunchy, harsh and crackly. Overload is pretty de...

Re: Recording my podcast in Stereo

Did you record in stereo? Do you have two blue sound waves and are they different? If you have only one, Screen Shot 2018-03-28 at 14.01.03.png you have a mono recording and no amount of settings is going to split it into "real" stereo—different sound left and right. Or did I miss the ques...
