Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
Well I have a pop glove on it. Did you do that to solve a specific problem? That design is supposed to help with wind noise and give P pop suppression. It does it by restricting large movements of air. In English, it suppress bass notes. I'm not a fan of doing that unless you're solving a problem. ...

That's a little shy of good recording volume, but it should work OK. Select the track by clicking just right of the up arrow. Effect > Normalize: [X] Remove DC, Normalize -1dB > OK. I'm more concerned about the "grass" on the left side of the blue waves. That's supposed to be flat (silent)...

Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
The mic picks up the sounds more in the treble area? Yup. Wouldn't that change how a baritone sounds when recorded? Yup. Blue isn't the most forthcoming about technical specs, but apparently, the Pro model is pretty flat and accurate over the audible range. No serious boosting. Screen Shot 2018-03-...

The goal here is not to ring a bell and tell you exactly what the problem is. It's more like group wisdom and someone having similar problems once and their experiences. Are you talking about an XLR to 1/8" adapter that goes into your soundcard? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jp...
Re: hum
Post a sample.
It's best if you send some normal talking and background sound. Not just a noise sample.
You can use this as a fuzzy guide.

Don't cut us short, either. Nobody can analyze two seconds.

There is a production note here. Directional microphones get boomy when you get close. It's a dead easy way to get an announcing voice.

Remember when you do that, crisp sibilants are going down too. It gets muffled.the best that can be done without it sounding inhuman ...
And this is a grand place to start recording 48000 or higher instead of 44100 sampling rate. Suddenly all those extra bits up there are important.

Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
We have a good track record for getting people published. If the microphone is crisp and harsh, sometimes a sock or hanky over the microphone can help. People make microphones with a high pitch boost because it "sounds more professional." Whatever you say. That boosts every tick, pop and m...
