Re: Female voice cleaning
One other observation although I don't know that it's applicable in this case. Communications microphone systems hate music. A voice holding a single note is treated the same as motor or fan noises. Sense the note and get rid of it. That's not what's happening here. I'm still struggling to think of ...

Re: Female voice cleaning
I do hear some damage there. At about 5.5 seconds the voice ends the note, but "something" keeps singing. Like shouting into a wine glass. It keeps going, ringing at its natural note after you stop.

Re: Female voice cleaning
Thank you. It's not unusual for someone to get so wrapped up in one specific symptom that they miss, and fail to post, other damage. In this particular case, I'm going to gently back away and let someone with better hearing take a shot at it. I don't hear any serious damage. I will be lurking becaus...

Re: Female voice cleaning
Maybe more than one note. Can we get something out to five or ten seconds?

Re: Just switched to macOS ACX help needed
Oddly, since The Sickness, getting your Audacity blue waves right isn't the most serious problem. There's a list of book types that don't make good audiobooks (scroll down). https://www.acx.com/help/200878270 ...And whatever you pick has to be available for purchase on Amazon in either paper or eBoo...

Re: Just switched to macOS ACX help needed
How did you used to do it? Or was the change to a Mac and the decision to post for audiobooks in the same wave? In brief: Pick a nice quiet, echo-free room. Announce so your voice waves fill the Audacity timeline (up and down) about half way. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityVoiceSamp...

Re: Can I export files in Audacity for commersial use?
Mp3 is copyrighted The process of making an MP3 was copyrighted. It recently fell out of protection, so Audacity 2.4.2 now has MP3 creation tools built-in. You can sell anything you personally created in Audacity. Billions of people use Audacity to create Amazon/ACX audiobooks for purchase. What yo...

Re: Does "Detect Dropout" pause recording?
@ Mr Dropout How do you do sync? By Guess and By Golly? Go with theatrical flow? Where is the show? I mean how can I listen? I know people who tell the far side to hold their headphones up to their microphone and then the session supervisor claps. You can do a countdown. "And One and Two and Th...

Re: Does "Detect Dropout" pause recording?
Yes, but. If you're both recording your local microphone, how did the Skype disturbance have anything to do with it? I guess if Skype lost its marbles and needed to do a redirection via Vladivostok, you would get a timing change and when you though the far side said "hello" could be a seco...

Re: Recordings are slowed down
I just have a ludicrous amount of dropouts. I think that's the end of your overdubbing career. Your machine doesn't have enough moxie (technical term) to perfectly play a backing track at the same time it's perfectly recording your new work. That's kind of the definition of overdubbing. But I don't...
