Re: Meeting ACX Requirements w/ Audacity
It took them a month. It's 10 business days to post a perfect reading. If somebody has to sit, listen, analyze a bad reading and write a report, it's going to take a lot longer. The submission passes ACX, but they have a preference for mono over stereo. Drop-down menu on the left > Split Stereo to ...

Re: Original sound is great, then WAV
I'm much more excited about why it's broken. Straight translation between formats doesn't do that. But to specifically answer you, If you install FFMpeg plugin, Audacity will open an M4A directly. Scroll down. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ I bet it's still broken. Can you make a 10 ...

Re: New to Audacity, trying to clean up audio
contribute to the hissing Only in the sense of having the microphone aimed the wrong way. All microphones have background noise. It's your job to get the performer and microphone close enough to each other so the show is way louder than the noise. If the performance is too loud, the digital system ...

As an experiment, does this dance work with any type of sound file even if you're not going to use it that way?

Re: Audacity doesnt recognise my mic
Here it is. These are the settings for my stereo USB device. USB Audio CODEC is its data connection name. Your microphone may be 1-Channel Mono instead of 2-Channel Stereo. Right-click the speaker > Recording devices > USB Audio CODEC . Tap the microphone and the sound meter should jump. Select it >...

Re: Audacity doesnt recognise my mic
You might back up a step. Audacity gets its sound from Windows, not the device or connection. So close Audacity and see if you can locate the device or connection in Windows. . My Widows has little ID panels and a sound meter to make sure everything is working. Right click the speaker (lower-right) ...

You can leave Remove DC checked. If it's not needed, it doesn't do anything. Have you actually tried that process? We published a slightly different mastering suite. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 It is a very New User mistake to read the whole book and only then figure...

Re: The Recording of Two Sources
You should be able to capture the 2i2 stereo and it will put one microphone on the left and one on the right. You probably don't even need drivers or software packages. After you capture the show, use the drop-down menu on the left > Split Stereo to Mono. That will give you two separate mono sound t...

Re: How to remove background noise?
I can't exactly figure out what the goal was, but are you after isolating just the music bed? No. If for no other good reason, the fireworks didn't get along well with your microphone and it put holes in the music. You can hear it if you're looking for it. Every time there's a bang, the volume dips ...
