Re: Vocal Recording Doesn't Start on New Track

Your question and title don't match.

There's a setting which either causes a new track to start under the old track -or- puts the new performances at the end of the old one. And any minute I'm going to find it. You want the setting that stacks them top to bottom.

Re: URGENT - Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 "latency" issues -

I am getting a terrible lag - I guess it is latency. Machine latency. You should plug your headphones into the Scarlett, not the computer. The computer headphone system is always going to have "one computer late" delay and echo and you can't stop it. The Audacity latency setting is Record...

What kind of machine is it and what's the microphone? I'm typing this on a Mac Mini.

Re: Red Lines In The Audio Graph

then these red points would need to be addressed? I have a question about that. If MP3 compression can go over 100% and I import an MP3 into Audacity whose internal format doesn't overload, either, then who cares? I should be able to just bring the volume back down in Audacity and go make coffee. N...

Re: downloading audio from app on my iPhone 6

You should probably be aware that Voice Memo runs with its own internal noise reduction. That's one reason I use the separate Music Memo which doesn't do that. So even if you do move the sound files, Audacity will be piling two different noise reductions atop each other. It's easy to get honky, bubb...

But now after each session I will additionally save the project to an external hard drive.
Live recording session? That puts you in the Export WAV camp.

If you continue to have problems or you discover what the original problem was, do post back.

Re: Missing Data Files. How to Restore projects

Doesn't Windows have a Restore function that can step you back to an earlier time? If you have the opportunity, Export the work as WAV (Microsoft). Use only "safe" characters in the filenames (upper, lower, -dash- and _underscore_) and don't export any stereo work over about three hours (s...

Here's first pass. I added Effect > Echo: 0.1, 0.5 > OK to both. On the second one, I also applied Effect > Distortion > Leveler. Settings attached.

Re: Red Lines In The Audio Graph

It's probably nothing It's something. That's where Audacity's monitors have detected a point of audio that got too big. There are a number of different ways to measure overload, but the way Audacity does it, it thinks those red bar points are distorted. At the very least, they are points where soun...
