Re: Trivial error when recording from a mic

24-bit/192kHz
It's possible Audacity or something else in the digital system can't handle those high numbers. That's over four times higher than the default sample rate.

Re: downloading audio from app on my iPhone 6

I used a secondary app to record voices and I had a terrible time managing sound files—even with iTunes. I got nothing. What did the instructions say? Before you go too far with this, you should know that particularly with a mono show, Audacity can't split apart voices, instruments or sounds. Noise ...

Re: Does new version have Horizontal grid lines yet?

Pretty please? Someone? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? We don't have horizontal rulers because the left edge is the wrong scale. Note the left edge is in percent and the sound meters are in dB. The waveform left edge should be in "linear dB" like other apps. CoolEdit.jpg So the real jo...

Re: Research: request for interviews

Roundtable, or are you doing a one-on-one interview? Do you provide a list of questions so we don't sound like fools in real time? I for one come off much better in printed text than in spoken word, so the forum works for me. Can you do it in printed text? The forum works in semi-real time across 9 ...

Re: Trivial error when recording from a mic

Is the Scarlett new? Did you personally pull off the shrink wrap?

Which Scarlett? There's only about a hundred of them.

Re: Trivial error when recording from a mic

Just tested and the built-in mic works fine... OK.....Ummmmm. That was the low-hanging fruit. The Scarlett seems to be working because you can hear it at the local headphone port. You can use Audacity to record the Mac built-in microphone. There isn't much left. Can you try a different USB port? If...

Do you know how to do a restricted screen grab? Get the Mac to display the INFO panel. Shift-Command-4. Draw a box around your version of that panel. Post it here. Scroll down from a forum text window > Upload attachment.

Re: Spinning wheel often in OSX when zooming in and out

How much room do you have and how much other stuff is running? You get the Spinning Beach Ball of Death when a process is taking longer than the Mac thinks it should. As you do production, Audacity has to make backup copies of the Whole Show to allow UNDO to work. Further, Audacity works at a much h...

Re: Trivial error when recording from a mic

Cool.

Until we get used to you, your postings will require an elf OK to be visible.

See if you can record from your MBP internal microphone. Change the recording setting in the toolbars.

Re: Vocal Recording Doesn't Start on New Track

Shift-R should put the new track under the old one, suitable for overdubbing. You can reverse Shift-R and R as a preference.
