Re: Questions From New Narrator
The noise on the clip sounds like a factory to me. Right. I isolated your two-second room tone and boosted the volume—intentionally making it worse. Then I selected the clip, copied it and then pasted multiple times. It should be there long enough to get used to the character of the sound and start...

Re: Latency controls are not working.
I believe you don't get the alignment action if you don't have Overdub selected. Without the overdub setting, you're just ordinary multi-track recording without the timing correction. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording: [x] ..overdub. This is fuzzier, but I think you also have to have [X] Alw...

My computer sits on a wooden table (well, maybe wood dust, it's from Ikea) "Wood-Adjacent." You ticked all the boxes. You have been doing your homework, right down to the blanket on the wood-adjacent table. I don't know that you need to go to a whole lot more trouble with noise. It's corr...

The background is a little noisy, but it surrenders to moderate Noise Reduction. Attached. First three readings and sentence 2/3 down. Screen Shot 2018-04-11 at 12.49.36.png I can tell you how I did that in a bit. That's basic housekeeping. Can you tell if your computer is on just by listening? I li...

Re: Out of memory...
As I posted in a sister message, "Out Of Memory" can mean your hard drive filled up. When your machine has a show too big for actual memory, it starts using a portion of the hard drive as if it were extensions of memory. When that runs out, there's no place else to go and the system starts...

Re: NEED HELP URGENTLY! - "Out Of Memory" Pop up!!
Do you have backups of your performers readings? It is recommended that you export WAV sound files of each live reading from each performer and keep them in a safe place. That gives you the joke that production is mostly bookkeeping. That allows you to post a clean edit even after your computer goes...

I will do that now. They may take several days to get to you. Reading is pretty popular. You can post a 20 second mono reading on the forum and we will give you the first pass opinion on how it's going. Doesn't matter what the words are. I've been known to read the cereal box. "Part of a healt...

Re: USB Codec for mac?
It doesn't have to say USB Audio CODEC. The manufacturers can call it anything they want. You should find some name that comes and goes when you connect and disconnect the turntable.

Re: URGENT - Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 "latency" issues -
How did you set the recording latency? If your latency is far enough off, you can chase your tail for a very long time. I recommend using Generate > Click Track at the default values except maybe slower than normal. Set up for overdubbing and use that as the backing track. Play that into your headph...

Re: AUDACITY TURNED MY 1.62GB TRACK INTO 1.1MB CLIPS
You can get that error if you changed the names of the files or folders, or have the _DATA folder in a different folder or location than the AUP file is expecting. They both need to be in the same place like my illustration. The show name is burned into the AUP file. Open the AUP file in a text edit...
