Re: Questions From New Narrator
what sounded like a commercial in the headphones You could be one of those lucky celebrities with one of these towers in the back yard. http://kozco.com/pix/KABC-Full.jpg I was working in the neighborhood and heard about a movie production shooting literally in the shadow of that tower. Super sensi...

Re: Removing headset echo
I think you're stuck. Audacity can't split apart individual voices, instruments or sounds from a mixed show. If the echo volume is very much lower than the main show, you might try Noise Gate. It will try to remove all sound below a certain volume. That sounds good, but it's really hard to get Noise...

Re: Standard chain settings for ACX production
Yep, that's my next step - analog mic and converter. Note about that. If you're reading mono and will be forever, avoid the stereo and multi-channel adapters such as the Scarlett 2i2. I like my UM2 and they make a higher-end one, the UMC-22. Focusrite has the Scarlett Solo. These adapters like work...

Re: Standard chain settings for ACX production
The limit of a USB microphone is about one cable. Five feet? Six feet? If you extend the cable a number of bad things happen. Even if you don't get any data errors, (pops, snaps, dropouts), the computer battery to run the analog side of the microphone gets sloppy. You may have met this error already...

Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
ACX submission guidelines are clear. You don't have to guess at it. I don't pay any attention to that part of it because I'm not reading or submitting and never have been. There's also the disclaimer that your submission is going to die if you can't read aloud. I know how to drive a microphone and t...

Re: Questions From New Narrator
Do the detailed instructions tell you that's where the microphones are?I see the dots on my computer.
The on-line stuff isn't very helpful. Yes, I know the case colors are pretty. I got that.

Re: Questions From New Narrator
Got it. I think your laptop microphones are those two dots up next to the camera on the lid. See if your instructions say anything more about that. LenovoMicrophone.jpg Do a scratch test. Start a recording and announce "Lenovo Microphone" and then scratch it/them. Then "Yeti" and...

Re: RMS Normalize seems to undo everything else
Thanks for the link. Yes, one of our other posters made a similar mistake. She got bounced by putting the wrong number of seconds of silence in the clips. Son of a [email protected]#$%^& Once you get the microphone working, it's not rocket surgery. I deserve a cookie. A guilt free cookie. "Thank you for c...

Re: How do I fix badly distorted audio? (mp3 sample attached
No. There's too much of it gone. All I could do was carefully convert it into different damage without improving it.
