Re: WHY DID AUDACITY SPLIT ALL MY .AU FILES?
Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects which are more like a work in progress rather than a finished show. Is your show still open? You can make a sound file with File > Export > Export as...... It is recommended that you export work as WAV (Microsoft) before you try lesser quality fil...

Re: XLR Mic Only Showing on One Channel
The difference between "Mix down to one channel for recording" and "Select the first channel of many for recording." The decision appears to be in Audacity because switching between services in Audacity seems to give the volume change. @FrankLepore This is why I recommend single ...

Re: How to disable "Save changes before closing?" popup?
It's a snap to make that message go away: Save a Project. Projects are Audacity's main product and reason for being. Exporting a sound file is a side issue.
I don't necessarily recommend saving a Project unless you need one, but that's what's happening.

This is mine on the current machine. Screen Shot 2018-04-28 at 17.10.50.png Note capacity and available are significantly large...

Re: Setting a selection to a specific DB
Amplify? Normalize? Neither one? Are you reading for audiobooks? ACX Audiobooks wants you to do three things at the same time. Peak, RMS and Noise. This is a quicky explanation of what those mean. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=297423#p297423 It's a common Home User problem to only g...

Re: Muffled/low recording for a NEWBIE
We need a few English words here. The little lights turn green during normal volume. If you get too loud, the lights will flash red. Gain indicators will light green when a signal at a certain level (–30dBFS) or higher is present. However, if the signal level exceeds –2dBFS, the indicators will ligh...
