Re: Recording problems: Can't record 96kHz + Skips in record
I don't have a sound card While I think recording at a higher than normal bit rate is a terrific idea, the whole sound chain from microphone on down has to support it. Normal would be 48000 which is the video rate and 44100 which is the Audio CD rate. Those two are dead common and everything suppor...

Re: Brand new and hoping for feedback
I was trying to stay under 10 on gain and keep 6-8 inches away from the mic, Those are ideal conditions. You don't have ideal conditions. The SM57 is an older design, high quality, moving coil (dynamic) microphone. It's generally used for drums and other tympani and it does a spectacular job at tha...

Re: recordings don't have stereo separation on playback
I know this isn't helping, but generally, adapting your original sound system to computer capture is recommended way before trying to force a USB turntable to work. This is a very good quality stereo to USB converter/adapter. The UCA-202. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo-650...

Re: FPGA implementation of noise removal
The original tool was called Noise Removal. It was changed to Noise Reduction (and redesigned) when too many people tried to make the original tool actually remove the noise to nothing. Neither tool will do that. Also, the original tool didn't do well with rain-in-the-trees white noise (ffffff). Whi...

Re: Brand new and hoping for feedback
Cool. Most of it is gone and you can sop up the rest with Noise Reduction. Now we should deal with voice volume. Run the Solo Microphone Gain all the way up and the Instrument Gain all the way down. Make sure the 48 volts is off. Move the microphone until it's 45 degrees off the corner of your mouth...

Re: recordings don't have stereo separation on playback
Sometimes Windows thinks your USB device works for recording and playback. Using those settings, it's trying to send sound back to the turntable. You can change that setting to your built-in speakers.

Re: Brand new and hoping for feedback
in the other room I'm just now catching up. How far away is the other room? You can't extend USB cables. Generally about 6' is the limit. They are intended for close-in peripheral connection, not inter-device transmission. You're right the USB cable is sending digital sound back and forth and short...

Re: recordings don't have stereo separation on playback
specifically a left or right track (mostly right) How about all right? One common error is to put Left music on both tracks instead of Left and Right. You know you're in trouble when the Audacity sound meters match. They can either match exactly and both sound meters look like they're been glued to...
