Maybe, but in combination with everything else? I posted a number of ignored computer hygiene questions. That's been ringing bells for a while now.
I still think the machine tests are totally warranted.

Re: How to record voice over music?
I can't tell if you're OK or not. There is an overdubbing tutorial. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html And there are some notes. You can't listen to yourself from the computer when you overdub. Your voice will always have a delay or echo. If you want to ...

Re: crash on export - 2.2.2 on High Sierra 10.13.4
Do you ever actually close programs? Did you remember Photoshop was running? One of the people at work used to get in trouble regularly by opening programs and then never closing them. The machine would slowly choke. But it didn't crash. Getting Photoshop to crash is good enough for me. Your machine...

Re: crash on export - 2.2.2 on High Sierra 10.13.4
Back up your computer before you do any of these jobs. Do Time Machine and copy /Users to an external drive. https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-test-the-ram-on-your-mac/ If it asks you if you want to make multiple passes, say yes. Your machine may be off-line for a while. Bank 5, Row 3 has a bad cel...

Re: Reducing Echo from Recordings
The only thing I found searching this forum said that there is nothing which one can do about such echoes. Is that true? It's true you probably saw it here. An echo is your own voice reflecting from a flat surface and arriving at the microphone late. If your room has multiple flat surfaces, you get...

Re: crash on export - 2.2.2 on High Sierra 10.13.4
How long is the show? I had some problems with High Sierra before. From the description, I think you have an unstable machine. There are supposed to be no conditions where the operating system starts crashing or failing There are tools to check memory and the internal drive. I think you should be do...

Re: removing *really* bad hum
Absolute minimum for mono MP3 is 32, so 64 is about right, and constant bit rate 128 used to be the Audacity stereo default. That's for listening only . Not archive or pre-production. If you have to edit or do production on your work it gets more complicated. There are reasons you might want it high...

None of these tools are perfect and taken to extremes are audible in the show. The only sure way to not have noises is not record them in the first place.

Re: Noise Reduction
I don't think you have that process quite down. Drag-select your sample noise. Effect > Noise Reduction > Profile ----the noise reduction panel will vanish after it "sniffs" the noise. Select the show (click just right of the up arrow on the left) Effect > Noise Reduction > Type the reduct...
