Re: Brand new and hoping for feedback

You're not Josh Ericson any more, are you? Josh has a Shure SM57 plugged into a Scarlett Solo preamp.

So there in one swoop we have the reason not to jump onto the end of someone else's forum thread.

I need to go back and figure out where you joined and what's happening.

Re: How to remove silences which are shorter than X seconds

What's the job? Doing that to normal speech will turn announcing into one long word with big gaps in it here and there. So you must have a special application.

And the special application may be the reason it doesn't already exist.

Re: Brand new and hoping for feedback

for ACX Check to work right.
ACX Check looks for a quiet half second (approx) in the performance to do its noise check. If it doesn't find one, it guesses at the noise, usually wrong. So that's the 2 seconds of Room Tone at the beginning of the test clip format.

Re: Brand new and hoping for feedback

You have The Yeti Curse, or an interference closely associated with the Blue Yeti microphone. This is a example of severe curse. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/USBMicrophoneWhineClip.mp3 Oddly, I don't think that's the actual problem. That's a symptom of the real problem of recording very low ...

Re: Noise Floor

There are some cautions with that. You can't upload massive productions. It will only allow you (for example) 20 seconds of mono WAV or 10 seconds of stereo WAV. Uncompressed WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit is recommended if you want us to evaluate anything because the world's favorite format MP3 has built-i...

Re: Switching between Versions of Audacity

Around 500 6 second .au files that are randomly assigned numbers. They should all be randomly assigned numbers. That's the Audacity default. It solves some Audacity internal problems but makes error recovery a nightmare. it is not working as expected. Did you not get the AUP project manager file? W...

Forgive me. 29.970029... That was just the illustration of a "standard error." The difference between 44100 and 48000 would be another standard error. It is odd that you can make a couple of minor corrections and have everything come out apparently even. That could be something is unstable...

Re: Reward, recovery of wav file.

That's a pretty old version of Audacity. You should probably update to the current 2.2.2. The add-on software sometimes cares about the Audacity version.

Re: Reward, recovery of wav file.

I've used a product called Voice Recorder by FancyApps on my Windows Phone. (how could I construct so much wrong in one sentence). I can make it worse (waving hand). "...and this is the first time I've used it." it samples at 41.1k Maybe 44.1KHz? That's what Audio CDs use. You can get wac...
