You need to hit it closer than that. What device?2. A simple USB device
I think it's still true Audacity won't play multi-track. Your choices are mono and stereo.

Re: Submitting to ACX?
This is an example. I went into my quiet third bedroom just now with a simple sound recorder and cut this. I'm no performer. I subjected it to the AudioBook Mastering tools and then tested it with ACX Check. It passed. Screen Shot 2018-05-31 at 20.20.12.png 180531_0106-CurdsAndWhey.wav I did cheat a...

Re: Submitting to ACX?
I would Export a WAV copy of each chapter now and then copy them to a Safe Place. The military would call what you have now a "Single Point Of Failure." Just the right mistake or a computer not feeling well this morning and your book may not open and may not be recoverable. How long did it...

Re: HOW TO RECORD A MAGIC JACK PHONE CALL USING THE PHONE
tuck the mic up under one of the earpieces. All you have to do is make a phone call and hit the record button in Audacity. Or you can use an Olympus TP-7 or TP-8 microphone in your ear. Plugged into any sound recorder and it carries both sides. This has the advantage of working with any telephone o...

Re: Submitting to ACX?
I planned to make a new file for each individual chapter to submit it to ACX. And while you're there, also Export a WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit sound file and save that as your chapter perfect quality protection backup. Copy them to a separate thumb drive, disk or cloud. If for some reason your Master P...

Re: Submitting to ACX?
ACX Check measures three different things: Peaks, RMS (volume) and Noise. It was written by Flynwill by collecting several already existing tools. ACX Check is the collected works with a pretty face. It's designed to be very similar to the "robot check" that ACX uses. As a fuzzy rule, nobo...

Re: Condenser Mic Recording Issues On Win 10 With Audacity
There's another point of comparison. Technically, the microphone on the side of your laptop is a "Condenser Microphone." It's an electret condenser type which usually produces reasonable sound way out of proportion to its size, but nobody would call it "professional studio." Koz

Re: Condenser Mic Recording Issues On Win 10 With Audacity
Without details on the microphone and the USB Soundcard, there's not a whole lot we can do. There are condenser microphones rated to run from the +5 volts on a USB soundcard, but the makers insist in the instructions that you only get full quality with a "real" phantom power (+48 volt) sup...
