How much did you pay for it? The 99c tunes I think are still restricted as to what you can do. The $1.29 songs are available for editing and production. They're higher quality and you're paying for the license.

If you are recording via an ASIO device please come back with the details as there are some potential issues with the updated default drivers which windows update may have installed.

Audacity doesn't directly support ASIO. Having your ASIO fail is not a problem.
