Re: Noisegate Plug In doesn't appear
The Main Conference Room where I used to work was soundproofed. That went right by most people, but the sound people knew instantly what it was. Many sound shoots when through that room and we were very friendly to the scheduling people. "Are you OK? Want a cup of coffee or something?" &qu...

Re: Noisegate Plug In doesn't appear
Echoes are rough. There's no "key." Echoes are your own voice coming back to the microphone late after bouncing off the wall. So you are asking the software to remove you from yourself. Now multiply times many different echoes that change when you move. Well, someone always says, the echoe...

Re: BEHRINGER XENYX Q802USB with a mic, Skype, and Audacity
I forgot. There is a recommended way to record a podcast with no Skype management at all. Everybody can record their own voice because that's a service of their computer. It's recording the Skype side that kills you. So: Each person in the podcast records their own voice and ships you the sound file...

Re: Audacity won't run after forced update.
One of the Windows security updates introduced managed and hidden devices. Lots of people's productions collapsed when they did that. I thought I had a note about that. We should wait for a Windows elf. Is this it? https://www.windowscentral.com/windows-10-april-2018-update-common-problems-and-fixes...

Re: BEHRINGER XENYX Q802USB with a mic, Skype, and Audacity
The last recommendation for Skype was one of the two higher Pamela software licenses. http://www.pamela.biz/en/products/ That will create special sound pathways in your computer (required) and the two higher licenses will give you a stereo track with you on the left and the Skype guest on the right....

Re: Noisegate Plug In doesn't appear
When you "went" to that location, did you put that little squiggle line (~) in the address like it says? That's a special character to the Mac. I am trying to address is echoey audio. It's not going to help. Echoes in the sound are one of the more reliable ways to kill your show. http://ko...

Re: Audio video synch mysteries
Now you know why critical separate-sound video productions occasionally put clapboards at the front and the back of a shoot. Screen Shot 2018-06-18 at 20.38.24.png "CAMERA MARK" [bang] ACTION!! acting. acting. acting. acting. Cut!! "TAIL MARKER!" (holding board upside down) [bang...

Re: FLAC vs. MP3 from a same download location
Never do production in MP3. Even it seems to work OK right now, it's a time bomb and could seriously bite you later. Every time you subject MP3 to production and export, compression distortion gets worse and the only way you can stop it is export in WAV or other uncompressed format. And even if you ...

Re: Can't hear beat while recording vocals
That and de-select Playthrough. You should have your headphones plugged into the GoMic and the GoMic selected as a playback and record device. The Overdubbing setting means Audacity "knows" it needs to send you the backing track (or whatever you want to hear). If you plug your headphones i...
