I always thought setting a dot in the export filename prevented Audacity from adding its own extension. Or is this Windows trying to manage the filename?

What have I done wrong? Use Audacity. Audacity doesn't speak MIDI. I think it can open and close a MIDI file, but it can't do anything to it and it can't convert. Converting MIDI to music is a snap. I used Analyze > Plot Spectrum. Apply Effect > Amplify, Effect > Normalize, Effect > RMS or other volume booster to make the track louder. I'm interested in the purple spikes at 120 and 240. What's the lighting in the booth? CFLs can make buzzing noises and dimmed conventional incandescent lamps can do that.

Or not use the Yeti and use the laptop microphones.Degrading the Yeti recording to sound like laptop-mic-Skype is possible using equalization, distortion & compression.

Recording a Skype call is not for the easily frightened. Describe how you recorded the laptop speakers? One not awful way is to place a stand-alone personal recorder half-way between the laptop and you. Record the room. Recording inside the laptop rarely works right because Skype loves to take over ...
