Re: Interviews - silencing tracks when one person is talking
I put the guest on the Left and me on the Right. That makes "by hand" editing a bit easier. If it's not too bad, you can use Effect > Noise Gate in your voice to suppress the trash. You're not reading for audiobooks, so nobody is expecting studio quality. You may get away with it. https://...

Re: Recorded file slighltly longer (slower) than original
convert Vinyl records into MP4. Really MP4? M4A?? You can fix the recorded tracks with Effect > Change Speed. The control panel has many different ways to tell it the correction. One of the ways is enter the desired time and the time you have and it will convert one to the other. Is the expected ti...

Re: removing overlaying audio(dubbing)
I had to download the actual movie, save it with Windows Movie Maker as audio So what does that mean? Is the real question back at the top that you wanted to remove dialog from a movie? That's a different tool. If the movie is in Dolby 5.1, you can open it as that and split off the center track whi...

Re: Behringer UM2 w/ Shure SM58 mic - quiet with noise
My Shure X2U overloads at the right place. Screen Shot 2018-06-24 at 10.48.48.png It's little volume light starts turning colors at about -6dB and it crashes at 0. However, I have to scream at full volume into it to get it to do that (the neighbors are used to that), which is why it spends most of i...

Re: Behringer UM2 w/ Shure SM58 mic - quiet with noise
Fascinating. You turned over a rock. My UM2 overloads perfectly correctly, except it does it at -3dB instead of the expected 0. That works out to blue waves at 70% using the handy conversion table. http://www.kozco.com/tech/pix/Percent-dB_Conversion.png I have no idea why it's doing that. I'm going ...

Re: removing overlaying audio(dubbing)
If you saved the show as an Audacity Project, then you have all the individual tracks stacked up one over the other, backing track on top. Mix and match as needed. If you only have a mixed track, that's the end of the world. Audacity can't split a mixed performance into individual voices, instrument...

What's the steps in the middle? Are you making an Audio CD? USB Thumb Drive? MP3 Disk?

Re: Effects and saving really slow on large files
256 SSD Solid State Drive is a big deal. One of the Systems guys at work and I had very similar machines. He had spinning metal and I had the SSD. I had to use his machine once and I though it was broken. If you do this a lot, make sure you have a good amount of room and the drive is healthy and de...
