Re: Recording using Rode NT1 so quiet I can barely hear anything
I owned a Yeti that I was never happy with years ago You can get a new USB cable for a Yeti. That is not rocket surgery. Not happy because you're not supposed to be happy? It didn't make you sound like a BBC Presenter? Noisy? Sometimes they can make background noises and Audacity has tools to addre...

Re: Recording using Rode NT1 so quiet I can barely hear anything
The NT1 is a side-address microphone. You speak into the side grill just up from the gold dot. The Company name should be facing you. the left hand knob is up. All the way? That's important. Are you using a plain XLR cable with three pins on one end and three holes on the other? https://www.kozco.co...

Re: Recording using Rode NT1 so quiet I can barely hear anything
I think probably starting with the obvious. There's an NT1 and an NT1a. Which one do you really have? The NT1a is labeled near the connector on the front and the NT1 is labeled on the rear. There's different Solos. Do you have a Third Gen? Is the tiny USB sign (funny fork thing) in the far upper rig...

Re: increasing RMS while keeping peak below -3dB
I am now able to pass ACX check. And before you get all excited, that's the gate-keeping test just to get in the front door (ACX has a similar on-line test). You also have to be reading a book I can buy on Amazon and has to not be on the Forbidden Book List (scroll down). https://www.acx.com/help/2...

Re: increasing RMS while keeping peak below -3dB
We haven't done that already because Loudness Normalization has an Undocumented Feature. Did you notice when you ran it that the display crossed LUFS and RMS by mistake? It's not a good idea to fold an unstable tool into a macro so you can't tell what it's really doing. Further, assuming we fix that...

Re: Won't play a WAV file for opening music
That just means it tried to play to your speakers or headphones and couldn't find them.Error opening sound device.
Are you playing to your computer built-in soundcard or speakers?
Did your wireless headphones go off-line briefly? Those can cause a lot of trouble.

Re: Clicky Audio Playback
I can't figure out how to monitor from the computer. You have the exact opposite problem as all the musical overdubbing forum posters that can't get the sound to shut up. See: Billw58, above. 2. Playback of the track on Audacity has a stuttering/popping click in the track. I tried exporting and WAV...

Re: Esport Adobe Audition markers
Audacity doesn't use Markers as any video editor transplant discovers. Some Other Way must be found.
What's the Audition Creative Commons rental going for these days? You can't outright buy the license any more, right?

Re: Understanding Audio and Amplitude Levels
A lot of what we call "VU meters" aren't actually measuring VU. Volume Units are a little strange. I got to ride technical for my TV Station Air Show and I sat down to a sound mixing board with "real" VU meters. It was like learning sound all over again. Both dB and dB-SPL use c...

Re: Save Project As errors
Do you have punctuation marks in your filename? That can be a bad idea, particularly slashmarks. Use ISO dates. Today is 2021-03-22. Upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, -dash-, and _underscore_ are OK. Slashmarks can make your computer go off looking for a non-existent folder, location,...
