I've got a big issue with my audacity.

Many people have gotten plain Audacity to record multi-channel audio under specific hardware conditions.

I didn't catch the goal/job. Not the fuzzy goal, the actual product.

A large percent of common audio jobs can be done with normal Audacity and a little care in hardware. Running without ASIO may be inconvenient, but it's not often fatal.

Don't you have to compile the program on the machine running it? Doesn't compiling give you a local machine specific program? There's also something about distributing compiled software, even if it's to yourself.

You didn't find them all. That still has very serious voice processing applied (pickle jar voice and unnaturally suppressed background). Audacity doesn't apply effects, filters or corrections in real time, so that leaves Windows. You maybe able to record on your Android Galaxy. https://www.popsci.co...

This is Josh performing with one ear pad off so he can hear himself through the air and with the backing track coming out of the left muff. That's not perfect overdubbing.

Wasn't that fun? Probably the hero consideration is Zero Latency Monitoring. If you're playing music, sooner or later you're going to want to play against yourself—overdub. Is the _DATA folder from a raw recording or from an edit session? A raw recording might be partially recoverable.
