Re: Trouble removing vocals in Audacity

There are two Vocal Removals. The legacy one and the newer Vocal Reduction and Isolation. Did you try both?

Re: newbie seeks recommendations

Even if you do get it all working, post back. I want you do a simple sound volume test.

Re: Mouth noise hell

No, you may actually be crazy, but those are two examples of the digital system going on vacation briefly and not following the show. And both of those are different from gritty or overly peaked sound in the words. If you get too close to a directional microphone and it's a condenser type and you us...

Re: Unable to record keyboard output using USB

The keyboard instructions tell us to use the multi-purpose headphone jack to transfer audio. Re: How to record google hangouts?

That's a group chat program, right? Do they supply a program that can do this? Pretty basic question. Maybe too simple. I want to record Google Hangouts and my own microphone. Is that the real goal? Those two can be really different. The Skype people run into this. We need to wait for a Linux elf, b...

Re: No USB AUDIO CODEC in dropdown box

But to get the simple one out of the way, did you plug in the turntable after you started Audacity? Audacity checks for connections when it starts. Restart Audacity with the turntable plugged in. Does that help?

Re: WARNING: Record between 20-12db

With digital recording, your digital levels are not that critical as long as you're not clipping. And as long as you stay digital. The instant you dip into analog land, as with a microphone or other sound adapter, you need to worry about both extremes. Digital overload and the analog noise floor. A...

Re: Unable to record keyboard output using USB

I have searched the forum from top to bottom and all I can see is recording with 6.5mm to 3.5mm jack. I wouldn't do that, either. I use the headphone jack of my Yamaha to a Behringer UCA-202. The UCA202 is a good stereo play and record USB adapter. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA20...

Re: WARNING: Record between 20-12db

The Official Party Line is to record with occasional peaks in the -6dB to -10dB range. That works out to blue wave tips between 50% and 30%. You can use the Audacity overload tools to see if you're recording too loud. View > [X] Show Clipping. If your time line has red bars and lines, you are record...
