Re: Someone help me
You need to get a little closer than that. Are you overdubbing? Skype-connected multi-track? Describe the show. One very common problem with overdubbing is to leave Preferences > Recording > [X] Playthroug h selected by accident. That will record your new voice (for example) and all your old tracks ...

Re: Trying to record multiple people
You didn't say the magic words: "Over Skype." Yes, that's not unusual to only get a partial recording. It can be a little like marching cats, but having each person record their own microphone can produce a terrific quality show. They all post their own microphone track to you and you smac...

Re: Project Automatic Recovery Fail
remember to delete those unneeded large files after my editing is all done. Much better to do that under carefully controlled conditions. A note. Save Project: keeps stepping on one show with changes. You don't get four or five different shows depending on when you saved. You can use Save As: and a...

Re: Distortion issues
Maybe not in Audacity. Most causes of distortion produce forever damage. For example, we are warned not to record a live performance too loud because overload or clipping distortion is very obvious, irritating and permanent. There is a line that we can sometimes turn distortion into different distor...

Re: Can't record in stereo
Listening the the recording, it seems pretty clear it is mono You don't have to listen to it. The bouncing sound meters tell us enough. So Windows is delivering either mono-mix or left-only dual-channel to Audacity. Right-click the Windows speaker icon lower right (the illustrations are Win7) > Win...

Re: Recording volume VERY low
Using latest Audacity 2.2, recording through a Steinberg UR22. Recording what through a UR22? There are two generic series of microphones and one important difference between them is volume. Sweetwater claims the UR22 is no longer made and they kept the sales page up just for convenience of the cus...

Re: Mouth noise hell
No matter what the microphone, the spacing rules apply. Front-on to the microphone should be about a Hawaiian Shaka.. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/HawaiianShakaSpacing-NoScreen-500t.jpg ... and if you have a blast filter about a power fist. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PowerFistS...

Yes. What do the bouncing meters do? Do they track each other perfectly, or are they different during a performance?Any other suggestions?

Re: Can't record in stereo
One trick to figure out what's happening is watch the Audacity bouncing sound meter. If the bounces are identical, then yes, you are recording mono-mix, or Left-Only. You set that in the Audacity tool bar after the microphone symbol. "9" in the illustrations. https://manual.audacityteam.or...

Re: How to mite silent part of an audio?
Drag-select the image address after you place it and then click the "mountain scene" button. Make sure it's a good size after you do that. Sometimes if the picture is huge, it's better to leave it as an address. There is no automatically removing sound that constantly changes. One of the g...
