Re: Export tracks without losing relative time?
I'm sure others could use this feature built into the export dialog too. Be sure and complain about the right thing. The Problem is that Audacity doesn't preserve leading silences in a project's clips. It's not that there are no convenient ways to cover up the mistake. I'd be surprised if there was...

Re: Mouth noise hell
iPhone's built-in mic is getting more hiss and sounds 'boxy'. Microphone amplification is hard. The signal falling out the bottom of a microphone is really tiny. How tiny is it?? It's so tiny that when you design a microphone preamplifier, you have to design the parts to do what you want, and then ...

Re: Stretching the track to full screen in the vertical direction?
Your illustrations suggest you don't want a graphic solution so it looks pretty. You want to make the show louder. Effect > Amplify. The default setting ([_]Allow Clipping - de-select) will make the blue waves fill the screen top to bottom and will stop increasing the volume just before the sound di...

Re: Export tracks without losing relative time?
I think the current Audacity 2.2.2 doesn't do that any more, but the desperation method is to Generate one long silent track longer than the show and export that in addition to the clip. Export > Selected. The silent track will fill in the holes maintaining the proper spacing and timing. It's silent...

Re: How to record google hangouts?
It appears that it should be easy because the apps are so effortless. Its only when you peek under the hood you see all the highly sophisticated data management that's actually going on to force the app to work. Why isn't it easy?

Re: Monitoring issues with AudioTechnica LP-120 USB
As a first pass diagnosis: Make sure the turntable is connected. Transport > Recan. Look at the list of recording devices in the Audacity toolbar. Make sure your turntable is selected. Unplug the turntable. Transport > Rescan. Look at the list again. Did the right device vanish? Was there no change?...

Re: Recognizing USB midi piano
If you have a MIDI controller or sequencer, that would work. I had CakeWalk. I used to download MIDI songs and play them from my older Yamaha—with the wrong instrument. Like playing a piano sonata on a sackbut. That's the cool thing about MIDI. You can control everything. Transpose to a different ke...

Re: Recognizing USB midi piano
Audacity won't record music from a MIDI connection. MIDI is machine control. It's a series of instructions about which key to press and for how long. Both of my Yamaha keyboards got recorded by plugging the headphone connection into the Stereo Line-In of my Macs... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity...

Re: Consistent Playback Volume
The short answer is RMS Normalize. That's a plug-in designed initially for audiobook recording that forces your voice volume to be constant. Or at least constant enough to pass audiobook testing. It's post production. You have to record your voice first, then correct it. I can't send it to you. I th...

Re: Someone help me
There was a change in Audacity 2.2.2 where Record New Track (R) and Add-On Record (Shift-R) are reversed. One adds a new track under the old one and the other smashes a new track on the end of the old one. You can reverse them back in Preferences > Record. Or just use the other keystroke.
