Re: unable to overdub
I'm so close to throwing in the towel. I have to draw the signal pathways in my head and they don't make it any easier because some of the controls aren't labeled. As I understand this: The little white buttons along the bottom are PFL, Pre-Fade Listen. Assume you're microphone is plugged into mixer...

Re: newbie seeks recommendations
I got it to pass and it sounds great, but it wasn't that easy. There's a wall power hum in there. Hmmmmmmmmmm and the voice volume is way too low.
Where is the volume control GAIN-1 on the UMC 22?
I need to leave for a bit.

Re: Recognizing USB midi piano
it's speakers are muted. The Behringer UCA-202 stereo adapter has a headphone socket. Go back and look at the picture. You'll need that anyway if you plan on overdubbing or doing sound-on-sound. You can't easily do that with just the computer. I don't do it that way. I have a Killer Sound System an...

And just to be obsessive, glance briefly at the correction values as you do that to make sure they are what you're expecting.

Yes, the microphone has a light when it’s running. It also has an on/off switch in the back that when turned on, turns on another light that tells it is running at +48v power. I don't think any of those lights is mentioned in the instructions...which makes me think I have the wrong instructions. No...

Re: Recognizing USB midi piano
All that is left is for me to develop musical talent. Or maybe not. Make sure if the keyboard in playing stereo that you are recording two different audio tracks in Audacity. The socket on the side of Windows machines can be a little magic. Some connections substitute your keyboard for a headset mi...

Re: Export tracks without losing relative time?
It's the absence of any kind of data; sound or silence, that leads to this issue. The program is failing to meet expectations. When I move a clip to the right on the timeline, I expect silence where the clip was when I play it and I expect that silence to be there when I export the clip. I don't ca...

2 buttons on the front of the mixer with labels that say usb out and source selection That fuzzed me out, too. As near as I an tell, you can send Pre-Fade, Post-Fade or Mixer Master out the USB connection to Audacity to record. Mixer master out is pretty simple (I think). That's the red fader on the...

Re: windows 7 finds mic, audacity doesn't
You didn't have to go that far. You could just restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan.
Audacity checks for devices when it starts. If you start Audacity and then plug in your microphone, Audacity will not automatically see it.

Re: unable to overdub
You did throw mud in the game with the custom gamer computer. I don't know if the soundcard is going to respond correctly to the commands and settings. While you're doing audio production, make sure all the gamer stuff is turned off and not just napping. Also make sure you're not running any chat or...
