Re: Effects to improve the audio

In most cases just 3 or 4 seconds of audio in WAV format is sufficient.
I'm not sure about that. One or two words isn't enough to tell when someone is doing something wrong.

If you do post in stereo, only ten seconds will fit.

Re: recording though the line in

Transferring LPs is a challenge because the vinyl clicks and pops may appear as overload and clipping damage. If you record to faithfully accommodate them, then the music may be too low. Last time I did it, I played the loudest part of the record and made sure no part of the show got any closer than...

Re: Recording volume problem

the record volume is down by half. Half the size of the blue waves? Other than that, does it sound OK? You're on Windows 10. Did you disable Windows voice processing and filters? They can cause performance volume to wander for no apparent reason. Side question: which process are you using for maste...

Re: iPod - HELP..!

There is one other possibility. Mount the iPod in iTunes and play the music "digitally" while you force the computer to record it's own playback. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer.html That should work with good quality no matter what else...

Re: iPod - HELP..!

"Transferring" files from an iPod may not be available. Syncing works if you have the original license of the music and you are working on the original computer. If you miss any of those conditions, Music Sync may fail. I created a terrific music mix on a Mac with a very old iPod. Everythi...

I am trying to do covers You're trying to play the backing track as a guide at the same time you record your own voice to a second track? I export the karaoke into Audacity and then record my voice on another track. Using the overdub setting in Audacity? Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > ...

Re: Poor audio quality recording computer playback

the quality is just very poor.
Can you hear the dogs barking next door? One of the Stereo Mix services records The Whole World including the built-in microphone. Could you be listening to you shuffle your chair while you record?

Re: backing track present on new recording track

Thanks for the details. When I record with the mic unplugged I can hear the backing track through the headphones as it duplicates onto the second track. I don't know where to go with this outside of waiting for an experienced Windows elf. Widows machines have no natural connection between playback a...
