Re: TimeMachine causes dropout during recording?

Have you ever used the Time Machine backups? Are you addressing a specific problem? If you have a brittle machine or system, it's not a terrible idea to make a plain, straight copy of /Users as well. That will give you an ordinary data backup of all your operating files and folders such as /Desktop,...

Re: newbie questions- can I record sax and combine it with a accompaniment

would it be possible to correct it There are tools to do that such as Effect > Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift, but by the time you get them to work, you could have just performed the song again several times. Are you using overdub? I'm surprised you have timing problems. Most people can sing or pla...

Re: unable to overdub

If you plug a USB condenser microphone into the machine, Audacity will not recognize it unless you restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan. Audacity checks for devices when it starts. That can lead to all kinds of confusion if you don't know it's going to do that. I see odd settings in your INFO pane...

Re: How I can remove the nasal voice?

There is simple pitch change. Effect > Change Pitch. In general, you can't take it much past one piano note or two without sounding funny. A low human voice is not just a lower pitch regular voice. Some parts of your voice change and some don't. If you're trying to correct a performance, make sure y...

Re: newbie questions- can I record sax and combine it with a accompaniment

I think that's backwards. In overdubbing, you play an existing track (the backing track) into your headphones and perform along with it onto a clean second track. When you're done performing, you can edit, correct, filter, etc, etc. When you're happy with the combination, File > Export and Audacity ...

Re: newbie question- how can I export a mixed audio to a MP3 file?

If you File > Export > Export as MP3, Audacity will automatically push all your tracks into one show.

But.

Audacity will play MP3 files but will not export an MP3 file without adding the LAME software.

Re: newbie seeks recommendations

Posting their response was a big help. Some performers just tell us "they didn't like my work," and we get to go round and round figuring out what exactly they didn't like. I won't mind knowing whether your microphone technique or your mastering created the distortion so we can tell other ...

Re: newbie seeks recommendations

I'm not sure they accept WAV They don't. They require MP3 like in two or three posts ago. Your work should all be in perfect quality WAV. Open the Edit Master WAV in Audacity and Export > Export as MP3 for them. You can't edit or manage an MP3 without adding sound damage. They put up with the damag...
