I do wonder where you got those waves from. Normal audio performances go up and down.

The blue waves in Waveform mode will only show you quiet sound down to about -30dB or so. You can get nearly straight lines if you take an expressive breath or pause while you're performing. That's why you also need the bouncing sound meter.

One other note. ACX rates your performance in technical conformance and then, after it passes that, Human Quality Control. Technical conformance can't tell distortion. You violated Human Quality Control.

I'm looking for a preference or preset that turns Shift-Scroll on and off and I don't see one.

OK. I found it in Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Mouse.
